Pumpkin Fiasco

Hi Future Chefs,

I hope everyone had a great Halloween weekend and if you don't celebrate Halloween, I hope you were able to enjoy your weekend! I had a great weekend. I pureed my first pumpkin this weekend and it went very well. I know it doesn't sound like a big deal but for me it was great. I cut the pumpkin into large chunks then roasted it in the oven for 4 hours. I added about a cup of sugar to sweeten the pumpkin as it was cooking, since I didn't buy a baking pumpkin. I separated it into freezer Ziploc bags and froze it. I am going to use it to make my pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving as well as any pumpkin dish I can think of...its pumpkin madness! I'll post pics soon...happy cooking!

Signed,

Introduction

Hi Future Chefs!

You may have been to my other blog site, www.make-updiary.blogspot.com. I have many interests and many things that inspire me but my true passion is cooking. I began cooking when I was 9 years old. My mother worked full time and my father was a military man, so I became the family cook. I am the youngest of 3 children and when I was about 13 my cousin came to live with us, so I began cooking for a family of 6! I never complained I loved it.

When I was 16 I cooked my very first Thanksgiving dinner from start to finish...with some help from my Mom of course, but I was the head chef! It was such a great feeling knowing that I possessed this talent. The following year I met my husband and I began cooking more and more. We dated for 7 years before we married and now I am so passionate about cooking.

Over the past 2 years my cooking has taken on a new life form. I have learned new techniques and new ways to cook certain dishes. The past two years is the reason why I have decided to go to culinary school. My husband is currently in school getting his MBA, but when he is finished culinary school here I come!!!

Please stay linked to my site to see photos of new dishes, cooking disasters and victories, or just follow my blog to hear my stories!

Future Chef signing off! :-)

Happy cooking
